First, many of us remember the copyrighted character Brainiac, who appeared from time to time like a hallucination in Superman comics; a green skinned android with little red light emitting diodes in a circle around his cranium, hideously intelligent, we were told, although that information appeared as editorial commentary and not in its speaking balloons, which seemed pedestrian.
